Watson, Tom (Thomas Sturgess) 1949- . US
golfer. In 1988 he succeeded Jack Nicklaus as
the game's biggest money winner, but was
overtaken by Tom Kite in 1989. Watson, born
in Kansas City, turned professional in 1971
and has won more than 30 tournaments on the
US Tour, including the Masters and US Open,
and the British Open a recent record five
times.
