Walden, Brian (Alistair) 1932- . British
journalist and, from 1977, television
presenter. He was a Labour member of
Parliament 1964-77. Walden was a university
lecturer before entering Parliament.
Disillusioned with party politics, he cut
short his parliamentary career in 1977 and
became presenter of the current-affairs TV
programme Weekend World, with a direct and
uninhibited style of interviewing public
figures. He also contributes to the Sunday
Times and Evening Standard newspapers.
