1899-1979. Russian composer who lived in the
USA from 1925. From 1930 he wrote Hollywood
film scores, including music for Duel in the
Sun 1946, The Thing 1951, and Rio Bravo 1959.
His score for High Noon 1952 won him an
Academy Award.
