1770-1844. Danish Neo-Classical sculptor. He
went to Italy on a scholarship in 1796 and
stayed in Rome for most of his life,
producing portraits, monuments, and religious
and mythological works. Much of his work is
housed in the Thorwaldsen Museum, Copenhagen.
