1893-1986. Hungarian-born US biochemist who
isolated vitamin C and studied the chemistry
of musclar activity. Nobel Prize for Medicine
1937. In 1928 Szent-Gyorgi isolated a
substance from the adrenal glands that he
named hexuronic acid; when he found the same
substance in cabbages and oranges, he
suspected that he had finally isolated
vitamin C. In 1947 he moved to the USA.
