1902-1971. British poet and novelist. She
published her first book Novel on Yellow
Paper 1936, and her first collection of poems
A Good Time was had by All 1937. She wrote a
further eight volumes of eccentrically direct
verse including Not Waving but Drowning 1957,
and two more novels. Collected Poems was
published 1975.
