Willis, Norman (David) 1933- . British
trade-union leader. A trade-union official
since leaving school, he succeeded Len Murray
as the general secretary of the Trades Union
Congress (TUC) in 1984. He has presided over
the TUC at a time of falling union
membership, hostile legislation from the
Conservative government, and a major review
of the role and policies of the Labour Party.
