White, Patrick
1912-1990. Australian novelist. Born in
London, he settled in Australia in the 1940s.
His novels include The Aunt's Story 1948, The
Tree of Man1955, Voss 1957 (based on the
19th-century explorer Leichhardt), The
Vivisector 1970, The Eye of the Storm 1973,
The Twyborn Affair 1979, his autobiography
Flaws in the Glass 1981, and his last work
Memoirs of Many in One 1986. He won the Nobel
Prize for Literature in 1973.
