1575-1642. Italian painter, active in Bologna
and Rome (about 1600-14), who is considered
one of the greatest Italian artists of the
17th century. His work includes the fresco
Phoebus and the Hours Preceded by Aurora 1613
(Casino Rospigliosi, Rome). His workshop in
Bologna produced numerous religious images,
including Madonnas.
