1908-1985. British actor. His stage roles
included Hamlet and Lear (Shakespeare), Uncle
Vanya (Chekhov), and the schoolmaster in
Rattigan's The Browning Version. He also
appeared in films. He was the father of
Vanessa and Lynn Redgrave, both actresses.
