1887-1954. Founder of the Indian Communist
Party in exile in Tashkent 1920. Expelled
from the Comintern 1929, he returned to India
and was imprisoned for five years. A
steadfast communist, he finally became
disillusioned after World War II and
developed his ideas on practical humanism.
