1913- . English actor and director. From
1948-56 he directed at the Shakespeare
Memorial Theatre, and appeared as Falstaff in
Henry IV, Petruchio in The Taming of the
Shrew, and the title role in Othello. He
played nonclassical parts in Galileo, Sleuth,
and Old World.
