1577-1626. English compiler of travel books,
rector of St Martin's Ludgate, 1614-26. His
collection Purchas, his Pilgrimage 1613, was
followed by another in 1619, and in 1625 by
Hakluytus Posthumus or Purchas his Pilgrimes,
based on papers left by Hakluyt.
