Mattia Pascal/The Late Mattia Pascal 1904 was
highly acclaimed, along with many short
stories. His plays include La Morsa/The Vice
1912, Sei personaggi in cerca d'autore/Six
Characters in Search of an Author 1921, and
Enrico IV/Henry IV 1922. The themes and
treatment of his plays anticipated the work
of Brecht, O'Neill, Anouilh, and Genet. Nobel
Prize for Literature 1934.
