1790-1855. English admiral and Arctic
explorer. He made detailed charts during
explorations of the Northwest Passage
1819-20, 1821-23, and 1824-25. He made an
attempt to reach the North Pole 1827. The
Parry Islands, Northwest Territories, Canada,
are named after him.
