1879-1969. German right-wing politician. As
chancellor 1932, he negotiated the
Nazi-Conservative alliance that made Hitler
chancellor 1933. He was envoy to Austria
1934-38 and ambassador to Turkey 1939-44.
Although acquitted at the Nuremberg trials,
he was imprisoned by a German denazification
court for three years.
