World continent, named by Alfred Wegener,
that may have existed between 250 and 200
million years ago, made up of all the
continental masses. It may be regarded as a
combination of Laurasia in the north and
Gondwanaland in the south, the rest of Earth
being covered by the Panthalassa ocean.
