champion from 1984 to 1987. Nelson won the
1978 Commonwealth Games at featherweight, the
World Boxing Championship (WBC) featherweight
title in 1984, beating Wilfredo Gomez, and in
1988 captured the super-featherweight title
by beating Mario Martinez.
