1895-1946. US photographer, born in Hungary.
He lived in Germany 1923-29, where he was a
member of the Bauhaus school, and fled from
the Nazis in 1935. Through the publication of
his illuminating theories and practical
experiments, he had great influence on
20th-century photography and design.
