1907- . English actor and producer. He
appeared on stage as Briggs in Thunder Rock
1940 and Iago in Othello 1942, and his films
include Great Expectations 1947. He founded a
trust that in 1959 built the City of London's
first new theatre for 300 years, the Mermaid.
