1929- . Scottish choreographer. After
studying at the Sadler's Wells Ballet School
he was director of the Royal Ballet 1970-77
and then principal choreographer. He is
renowned for his work with the Canadian
dancer Lynn Seymour such as La Baiser de la
Fee 1960 and Anastasia 1967-71. Other works
include Elite Syncopations 1974 and Mayerling
1978. He was knighted in 1983.
