A series of diplomatic documents initialled
in Locarno 16 Oct 1925 and formally signed in
London 1 Dec 1925. The pact settled the
question of French security, and the
signatories - Britain, France, Belgium,
Italy, and Germany - guaranteed the existing
frontiers between Germany and France, and
Germany and Belgium. The prime mover in the
pact was British foreign secretary Austen
Chamberlain. Following the signing of the
pact, Germany was admitted to the League of
Nations.
