1903-1989. Austrian ethologist. Director of
the Max Planck Institute for the Physiology
of Behaviour in Bavaria 1955-73, he wrote the
studies of ethology (animal behaviour) King
Solomon's Ring 1952 and On Aggression 1966.
In 1973 he shared the Nobel Prize for
Medicine with Nikolaas Tinbergen and Karl von
Frisch.
