Deciduous tree, genus Tilia, of the family
Tiliaceae. The common lime Tilia vulgaris
bears greenish-yellow fragrant flowers in
clusters on a winged stalk, succeeded by
small bobbly fruits. It was a common tree in
lowland regions of prehistoric England.
