1862-1947. German physicist who investigated
the photoelectric effect (light causes metals
to emit electrons) and cathode rays (the
stream of electrodes emitted from the cathode
in a vacuum tube). Nobel prize 1905. In later
life he became obsessed with the idea of
producing a purely `Aryan' physics free from
the influence of Einstein and other Jewish
physicists.
