1917- . British biochemist. Kendrew began, in
1946, the ambitious task of determining the
3-dimensional structure of the major muscle
protein, myoglobin. This was completed in
1959 and won for Kendrew a share of the 1962
Nobel Prize for Chemistry with Max Perutz.
