1882-1967. Hungarian composer. With Bartok,
he recorded and transcribed Magyar folk
music, the scales and rhythm of of which he
incorporated in a deliberately nationalist
style. His works include the cantata Psalmus
Hungaricus 1923, a comic opera Hary Janos
1925-27, and orchestral dances and
variations.
