A collection of short stories for children by
Rudyard Kipling, published in two volumes in
1894 and 1895. Set in India, the stories
feature a boy, Mowgli, reared by wolves and
the animals he encounters in the jungle. The
stories inspired the formation by Baden
Powell of the Wolf Cub division of the Boy
Scout movement.
