1854-1928. Czech composer. He became director
of the Conservatoire at Brno in 1919 and
professor at the Prague Conservatoire in
1920. His music, highly original and
influenced by Moravian folk music, includes
arrangements of folk songs, operas (Jenufa
1904, The Cunning Little Vixen 1924), and the
choral Glagolitic Mass 1927.
