People inhabiting the Arctic coasts of North
America, the E islands of the Canadian
Arctic, and the ice-free coasts of Greenland.
They were first called Eskimos (`foul eaters
of raw meat') by the Algonquin Indians. Their
language, Inuktitut, belongs to the
Eskimo-Aleut group.
