1893-1959. German Expressionist painter and
illustrator, a founder of the Berlin group of
the Dada movement 1918. Grosz excelled in
savage satirical drawings criticizing the
government and the military establishment.
After numerous prosecutions he fled his
native Berlin in 1932 and became a
naturalized American in 1938.
