1961- . Canadian ice-hockey player with the
Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings. He
scored a record 238 points in the 1981-82
season. In 1989 he won the Hart Trophy as the
National Hockey League's (NHL) most valuable
player of the season for a record ninth time.
He broke the NHL all time scoring record -
now 1,979 points (surpassing Gordie Howe's
1,850 points).
