studied the ways people try to create,
present, and defend a self-image and the
social structures surrounding, controlling,
and defining human interaction. He analysed
human interaction and the ways people behave,
particularly in public places. His works
include The Presentation of Self in Everyday
Life 1956, Gender Advertisements 1979, and
Forms of Talk 1981.
