Portinari altarpiece about 1475 (Uffizi,
Florence) is a huge oil painting of the
Nativity, full of symbolism and naturalistic
detail, and the Death of the Virgin about
1480 (Musee Communale des Beaux Arts, Bruges)
is remarkable for the varied expressions on
the faces of the apostles.
