1926- . US physicist, who invented the bubble
chamber in 1952, for which he received the
Nobel Prize for Physics in 1960. Born in
Cleveland, Ohio, he was educated at the Case
Institute of Technology, did research at the
University of Michigan, and in 1960 became
professor at the University of California.
