altarpieces in the International Gothic
style. Gentile was active in Venice,
Florence, Siena, Orvieto, and Rome and
collaborated with the artists Pisanello and
Jacopo Bellini. The Adoration of the Magi
1423 (Uffizi, Florence) is typically rich in
detail and crammed with courtly figures.
