Adopted name of Naum Neemia Pevsnerm, 1890-1977. US abstract sculptor, born in Russia. One of the leading exponents of Constructivism, he left the USSR in 1922 for Germany and taught at the Bauhaus in Berlin (a key centre of modern design). He lived in Paris and England in the 1930s, then settled in the USA in 1946. He was one of the first artists to make kinetic (moving) sculpture and often used transparent coloured plastics.
