1904-1979. Austrian physicist who coined the
term `nuclear fission'. A refugee from Nazi
Germany, he worked from 1943 on the atom bomb
at Los Alamos, New Mexico, and later at
Cambridge, England. He was the nephew of Lise
Meitner.
