1778-1840. German architect, who from 1815
worked in Finland. His great Neo-Classical
achievement is the Senate Square in Helsinki,
which is defined by his Senate House 1818-22
and University Building 1828-32, and crowned
by the domed Lutheran cathedral 1830-40.
