She was born Lady Elizabeth Angela Marguerite
Bowes-Lyon, and on 26 Apr 1923 she married
Albert, Duke of York. Their children are
Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret. She
is the youngest daughter of the 14th Earl of
Strathmore and Kinghorne (died 1944), through
whom she is descended from Robert Bruce, king
of Scotland. When her husband became King
George VI 1936 she became Queen Consort, and
was crowned with him 1937. She adopted the
title Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother after
his death.
