US psychedelic rock group formed 1965 in Los
Angeles by Jim Morrison (1943-1971, vocals),
Ray Manzarek (1935-, keyboards), Robby
Krieger (1946-, guitar), and John Densmore
(1944-, drums). Their first hit was `Light My
Fire' from their debut album The Doors 1967.
They were noted for Morrison's poetic lyrics
and flamboyant performance.
