1903-1934. US criminal who undertook a series
of bank robberies between June 1933 and July
1934 in several states. Although captured in
Ohio and Arizona, he was able to escape on
both occasions before being trapped and shot
by the Federal Bureau of Investigation
outside the Biograph Theater in Chicago.
After the shooting, rumours circulated that
he was not the man killed by the federal
agents.
