In British history, unsuccessful plot hatched
in Cato Street, London, to murder the Tory
foreign secretary Castlereagh and all his
ministers on 20 Feb 1820. The leader, the
Radical Arthur Thistlewood (1770-1820), who
intended to set up a provisional government,
was hanged with four others.
