1901-1957. South African poet, who
established his reputation with the The
Flaming Terrapin 1924. Born in Durban, he
became a professional jouster and
bull-fighter in Spain and Provence, France.
He fought for Franco in the Spanish Civil
War, and was with the Commonwealth forces in
World War II.
