1885-1948. British racing driver who, at one
time, held both land- and water-speed
records. His car and boat were both called
Bluebird. He set the land-speed record nine
times, pushing it up to 484.8 kph/301.1 mph
at Bonneville Flats, Utah, USA, in 1935, and
three times broke the water-speed record, the
best being 228.2 kph/141.74 mph on Coniston
Water, England, in 1939. His son Donald
Campbell emulated his feats.
