One of the early Christian leaders and
writers known as the Fathers of the Church.
According to tradition he was the third or
fourth bishop of Rome, and a disciple of St
Peter. He wrote a letter addressed to the
church at Corinth (First Epistle of Clement),
and many other writings have been attributed
to him.
