1986, Christie won the European 100 metres
championship and finished second to Ben
Johnson in the Commonwealth Games. At the
1988 Seoul Olympics, he won two silver medals
in the 100 metres and 4 x 100 metres relay.
In 1990 he won gold medals in the
Commonwealth Games for the 100 metres and 4 x
