The Chandrasekhar limit of 1.4 Suns is the maximum mass of a white dwarf before it turns into a neutron star. Born in Lahore, he studied in Madras, India, and Cambridge, England, before emigrating to the USA. He was awarded the 1983 Nobel Prize for Physics.
