Beza, Theodore (properly De Besze) 1519-1605.
French church reformer. He settled in Geneva,
Switzerland, where he worked with the
Protestant leader John Calvin and succeeded
him as head of the reformed church there
1564. He wrote in defence of the burning of
Servetus (1554) and translated the New
Testament into Latin.
