Amis, Kingsley 1922- . 
English novelist and poet. His works include 
Lucky Jim 1954, a comic portrayal of life in 
a provincial university, and Take a Girl Like 
You 1960. He won the Booker Prize 1986 for 
The Old Devils. He is the father of Martin 
Amis.
